Suzanne discovered Iyengar yoga in the early nineties, qualified as an Iyengar yoga teacher in 2009 and between 2015 and 2019 obtained the Intermediate Junior Levels 1, 2 and 3.
Suzanne enjoys sharing the benefits of yoga: for our overall health and well-being, in our attitude to life and dealing with its challenges. Her own study and learning is ongoing; through her teaching and students, through her own practice and attending regular classes and workshops with senior teachers, including visiting teachers from India. Her study of philosophy is ongoing; since 2019 Suzanne has been studying the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali in greater depth, taught by senior teachers Sheila Haswell and Gitte Bechsgaard, an expert on philosophy, Sanskrit and Eastern psychology.
In December 2018 Suzanne visited Pune for the Centenary Celebrations of BKS Iyengar’s birth. She feels privileged to have been taught by Prashant, Geeta and Abhijata Iyengar, Mr Iyengar’s son, daughter and granddaughter and receiving Geeta’s devoted teaching and wisdom a few days before her death.
The use of props in Iyengar yoga make it accessible to everyone and Suzanne teaches a variety of classes in Ealing and West Kensington, including children and teenagers. Her monthly restorative/pranayama sessions are ideally suited to those already attending Iyengar yoga classes.
